前兩天有網友問我，in the front of是什麼意思，跟in front of又有什麼不同？其實這又是一個聽懂、讀懂，講文法規則不如唸例句的好例子，我就寫了這篇短文，說明一下in front of? in the front of?

首先大家應該對in front of 沒什麼問題吧！

There is a garden in front of the house. 房子前面有花園。

至於in the front of或許有人會說，有這個說法嗎？而如果有的話，那跟in front of有什麼不一樣？很簡單到Google找一下，"in front of" "in the front of"，看看找到的句子，其中有以下這句最好的例句：

I hear this noise in the front of my car when I am braking. 煞車時，聽到車子前面有雜音。

用中文來說好像都一樣耶！但是仔細想想，前一句in front of是在房子外面的前面，而後一句當然是車子前面，引擎蓋下面，也就是車子裡面的前面。這下應該懂了吧！好像這篇文章這樣就可以結束了，不過對我而言這才開始，以台灣學英文的方式，我想老師應該都會強調，in front of是在外面的前面，而in the front of是在内部的前面。學生就開始背單字、背片語的，把上面這句話背下來，你說好背嗎？

我一直強調例句的重要性，如果是我，我會要求學生背以下的例句：

There is a garden in front of the house. 說實話，這句沒什麼好背的，因為大家應該都知道in front of的意思，問題是in the front of，所以我會要求把以下這句唸個二十遍：He likes to sit in the front of a bus.坐在巴士的前面。把這句多唸幾次，in the front of的意思自然就懂了，是不是比背in the front of是在内部的前面好多了？
